Unit of Inquiry - Who We Are

Central Idea: Our uniqueness and relationships define who we are
                      เอกลักษณ์ของเราและความสัมพันธ์ที่จะบ่งบอกได้ว่าเราคือใคร

Current Line of Inquiry: Everyone Is Different
                                      ทุกคนมีความแตกต่าง

RSV/Hand, Foot and Mouth - last week in EY we had 2 confirmed cases of RSV in Iguana class (K1) which lead to the class being closed for deep cleaning. Following this, we also deep cleaned Polar Bear (preschool) and Panda (K2) classrooms to ensure that there was no transfer of diseases. We have since had confirmation of a Hand, Foot and Mouth case in Preschool. This child was not in school on Thursday or Friday and so the deep cleaning that took place was still effective. If you think your child may be sick, please keep them home. If your child has a confirmed case of RSV, Hand, Foot and Mouth or any other childhood illness, it is important that you let your class teacher know at the earliest possible time. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Maths

Beginning next week we will start teaching a 'Shape of the Week'. Next week our shape will be circle. We will be naming, recognising and drawing circles as well as learning songs about circles. This teaching will take place in Thai and English. Please practice looking for circles around your home.

English/Phonics

This week we practised our mark-making with cars in paint. The children had a lot of fun making marks on the paper with the vehicle wheels and seeing the patterns that were left behind. This evolved into hand painting. The children had a great time exploring how the paint felt and how their movements made different marks on the paper. They were fantastic risk-takers and not afraid to get a little messy!
This activity helps to develop hand-eye coordination and build muscles needed later on for writing.

Specialist Lessons

This week in we celebrated Wai Kru or Teacher's Day. The children helped to make flower trays for the ceremony and participated in the assembly. We had lots of fun and thank you to all the parents for your plant contributions.

Learner Profile

This week we have been encouraging the children to be principled by sharing with their friends and tidying up after themselves.

International Mindedness/Student Choice (UOI)

This week the children showed interest in a book called Boats. Ms Dae read the story to the children and we decided to follow this up with an activity to develop their interest further. The children were provided with paper to colour how they wished. Ms Dae then used the paper to fold into boats. We took the children outside with their boats and floated them in our water trays. We had so much fun!
