Finding Out - Apprenticeship Week

IB Focus/School Vision/Mission Collaborative planning and reflection takes place regularly and systematically. For EY, collaborative planning takes place 4 times a year, as we teach 4 Units of Inquiry or UOI. This curriculum is called our Programme of Inquiry, or POI. The three homeroom teachers and teaching assistants come together with the specialist teacher if we are making links with a specialist on that Unit, and the PYP Coordinator to plan for the children's learning, assessments and interests. Everyone's voice is equal and valued. Input from Thai staff is important as we value the home culture and mother tongue of our schools largest nationality population.  Reflection also takes place 4 times a year at the end of each Unit of Inquiry. Again the teaching teams, specialists and PYP coordinator come together to discuss what worked well and what didn't so that we can make improvements for the following year's Programme of Inquiry.  Apprenticeship Week T...

People who help us

How We Organise Ourselves Our UOI this half term is How We Organise Ourselves. Our Central Idea is ' People play different roles in the communities to which they belong.' We are talking to the children about the different jobs people do within school as well as our wider community. We have already had a doctor and an ex-police officer offer to come and speak with the children about their jobs. We would still like to arrange for a firefighter and veterinarian to be guest speakers as well, so if you are in one of these careers or know someone who is, please consider volunteering a small part of your day to speak to the children about what you do. If you are interested, please let Miss Charlotte know. As part of finding out about the jobs people do within our school community, we are giving the children the opportunity to go and see different staff doing their different jobs around school. Children will have the chance to find out what the teachers, Head of School, office...

Reflection and action

IB Focus/School Vision/Mission The programme of Inquiry and all corresponding Unit planners are the product of sustained collaborative work involving all the appropriate staff.  When planning our Units of Inquiry, the teachers and teaching assistants from all three Early Years classes are involved. Depending on the Unit of Inquiry, we also invite specialist teachers to join us from PE, Music and Thai. Through discussion, we establish children's currents needs and interests and try to plan a basic outline for where out Unit teaching will begin. This forms our 'Tuning In'. As we teach this section of the Inquiry Cycle, we make notes on the children's questions and interests. We then come back together as a team to discuss what steps each class will take through the rest of the Inquiry Cycle and the Unit.  Sports Day 2019 Congratulations to Green Team who came in first place at this years Sports Day event! Everyone had lots of fun joining in the activities and a...
