Going Further

IB Focus/School Vision/Mission

We report on the essential elements of the PYP.

The essential elements of the PYP are;
  • Action
  • Skills
  • Attitudes
  • Concepts
  • Knowledge
We report on these in many different ways. Weekly, you should be able to see evidence of these through our comments in the communications books and in the class blogs. We have recently introduced Learner Profile stickers to support children's understanding of the PYP language. If your child comes home with a sticker, please ask them about it.
Each Unit, we track the children's progress through our Inquiry boards, our Unit planner's, action boards, observations and trackers.
Termly, we report on children's progress through formal written or interim reports, and through Parent-Teacher conferences, or, as in this term, Student-Led Conferences.

Going Further

This week our Line of Inquiry is 'Role of people who are a part of our communities'.
We were lucky enough to be able to invite in some guest speakers to tell us about the roles they play. First, a doctor came to tell us all about his work as an obstetrician and how he helps families to have babies. Then, we met the Tourist Police who showed us how they use Walkie Talkies to keep in contact with their teams when they are working.

Maths

This week the children have been working on number recognition and positional language.

Phonics

This week in Phonics, we have been reading our Class Big Books, 'Essential Agreements', 'Learner Profile Dinosaurs' and 'People Who Help Us'.
The children drew pictures to add to our understanding of these concepts.

Specialist Lessons

This week in PE...

Learner Profile

Principleadon has been our focus dinosaur for this week. We have been working on doing the right thing, telling the truth and saying sorry.
These are very hard concepts for such young children to understand so please support us by encouraging them to be Principleadon's at home as well.

Student Choice (UOI)

This week the children have been enjoying our Zoo Vet role-play, reading lots of books, practising writing our names and making mixed up animal paper plate face pictures.
