Empowerment
School Mission - Empowerment
We agree to create an environment in which children are involved in their learning, can ask questions, and thus gain a sense of empowerment.
Independence
This week we have really been encouraging the children to do things for themselves. This includes serving themselves at snack time, changing themselves for nap, putting on their own shoes and tidying up after themselves. These are all fundamental skills in promoting the children to become independent and forward thinking learners.
Please support us by encouraging your child to do these things for themselves at home.
You can read more about promoting early childhood independence here.

Maths
This week we have started to create some of Christmas crafts. This has been a perfect opportunity to revise some of the work we did on shapes earlier in the term. We began by painting lollipop sticks and then used these to make triangles which will later become Christmas tree decorations.
Next week we will make Christmas cards which will revise circles.

Phonics
This week the children have been practising their speaking and listening skills. We have been recording the children talking about their family photographs in order to share their learning with you in the coming weeks.
Next week we will continue with this activity.
Specialist Lessons
This week in Arts class, the children took part in a colouring competition for the King's Birthday Celebration Assembly. Congratulations to JR who won the Preschool competition.
Learner Profile
This week we have focused on being Balanceatops. I have been watching carefully for those children who are participating fully in their PE lessons with Mr Xavi, and who are also eating a healthy and varied diet at snack times and lunch times. Early childhood is the best time to instil healthy life-choices in our children. If they understand the importance of and how to lead healthy lives now, they will reap the benefits later in life.
International Mindedness/Student Choice (UOI)
This week's focus has been our Unit of Inquiry summative assessments. These will be shared with parents at our up-coming Christmas Family Picnic. Children have been looking back at the photographs you sent in over the term and talking about them, remembering what they have learnt.
We have also started our learning about Christmas. We are still practising our Christmas performance song 'Dominik the Donkey' which you can find here, and we have begun to make Christmas decoration which will be available to purchase at our Preschool stall on the evening of the Christmas Celebration.
