Squares, twos and listening ears

Maths

This week in maths we have been learning about squares and the number two. We have also recapped last week's learning about circles and the number one.
The children have been learning songs about the shapes and numbers and practising drawing and writing them.

Next week we will learn about Triangles and the number 3. We will continue to recap our learning on the shapes and numbers covered so far.

Phonics

This week in phonics we have been listening to transport sounds like helicopters, aeroplanes, trains, bicycles and cars. We have also made 'listening ears' headbands ready for our listening walk on Friday. We will continue to use these for our future phonics sessions.

Next week we will continue to listen for and discuss transport sounds.

Specialist Sessions

The children really enjoyed our Library and Thai lessons this week. They had lots of fun looking at books and learning shapes in Thai.

Next week will be all about books as it is our Book Week Celebrations. Please remember to send in your child's Extreme Reading Challenge photograph by Wednesday 10th October.

Friday 12th October will be our Character Parade Day. Please remember to send your children dressed as a character from their favourite book.

Student Choice

A big part of the PYP is about giving the children choices and letting them have a say in what we do. We try to follow their interests in our planning but in Preschool, we try to do this on a day to day basis. This week we have been asked by the children for painting activities, outside play time and time in the soft play room. We try to adapt our schedule to be able to give the children the time to do what they want. Below are some photographs of student choice activities.

The children have been fantastic Inquire-apods this week!
